Police are investigating the death of a recently born baby boy found in an area of woodland in Hampshire this afternoon.
Officers were called at 2.05pm today to woodland close to Shore Road, Hythe, and a scene is now in place as authorities begin their investigations.
The death is being treated as unexplained.
Police say they are in the early stages of their investigation and a larger than normal presence will be in the area while officers carry out house-to-house enquiries this evening and into tomorrow.
Detective Chief Inspector Ross Toms said: ‘I have no doubt this will have been a very distressing experience for the mother of this baby.
